Do Wear Layers

One tip that you should always keep in mind when dressing for a wedding is to wear layers. Even if it’s the hottest day of the summer, it’s never a bad idea to have a cardigan or a wrap that you can put on later at night, especially if the ceremony is outside. Wedding receptions typically last well into the night, and the last thing you want is to have to spend the last half of the night freezing. For this reason, it’s never a bad idea to layer up!

Don’t Wear White

It’s a well-known rule that a wedding guest should never wear white to a wedding. In fact, it pretty much goes without saying that the only one who is allowed to wear white is the bride. It’s the bride and groom’s special day, and you don’t want other people to think you’re trying to compete with the bride for attention. You may think a dress is okay because it only has a little white on it, but a good rule of thumb is to stay away from that color as much as possible.

Do Consider the Dress Code

The bride and groom typically choose a dress code for their wedding, from dressy casual to white tie. When you receive the invitation to the wedding it will state what kind of dress code to expect so that you know how to dress for the event. It’s important to take this dress code into consideration when choosing your outfit for the wedding so that you don’t accidentally dress too formal or too casual and stick out like a sore thumb.

Don’t Dress Too Casual

Along the same lines of adhering to the dress code, you also want to make sure you don’t dress too casual for the wedding. Even if the invitation says that the theme is casual, that doesn’t mean you should show up to the wedding in sweatpants or jeans and a t-shirt. When you attend a wedding with a casual dress code, you should still do your best to look nice.
